This seminar will provide an easy-to-understand explanation of regulations under Japanese labor law related to wages, allowances for overtime, holiday and late-night work, other allowances, bonus and retirement allowance. It is important for both the employer as well as the employee to be well aware of these regulations. A lawyer who is well-versed in labor issues will explain issues on these payments, from the employee’s entitlement to them and the employer’s obligations.

Kento Tanei is a Senior Associate of the Employment & Compensation group at Baker McKenzie‘s Tokyo office. Kento handles the full range of labor/employment law matters for domestic and international companies, including general labor disputes, harassment allegations and drafting of terms and conditions of employment. Kento was seconded to the Japanese government Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) from April 2021 to March 2023 as a professional in labor-related laws.
